Eminem released a new album called “Revival” on December 15th, 2017. There are 19 songs on this album. 18 out of the 19 songs are explicit, which is expected with Eminem. The song that is not explicit is only 51 seconds long and is an interlude. Most of the songs are over 4 minutes long, the longest being 6 minutes. He has few of collaborations on this album as well. Collaborators in this album include Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, and P!nk. The most popular song on the album is “River” featuring Ed Sheeran. This collaboration was unexpected, but it works well. Sheeran’s higher pitched voice is the perfect pair to Eminem’s lower pitch. The most controversial song on his album is “Untouchable.” Eminem talks about how corrupt the police are, and he even talks about white supremacy. This song covers sensitive topics, which according to HotNewHipHop.com, leaves many fans divided. Another song on the album called “Like Home” featuring Alicia Keys is a diss to Donald Trump. He compares Trump to a lot of absurd things like a parrot and says he is “basically Adolf Hitler.” This is yet another sensitive song, and only certain fans like it, specifically Trump haters. Because of all the fragile subjects, some fans are not impressed with this album. Since it has been about 4 years since he released an album, fans were expecting something edgy like his personality. He still talks about doing bad things to his ex-wife Kim and constantly apologizes to his daughter Hailie in a few songs, which is like him. Instead, fans got a completely different side of him, which was unexpected and even not wanted. There were mixed reactions with this album, and some fans liked it. This album is more sensitive and political. It was unlike him, and some fans expected a lot more. I think he could have improved, but not all of the songs are bad. Overall, there are a few songs that aren’t as sensitive but like me, some fans are disappointed.
