The liver is needed for many metabolic purposes in the body yet is exposed to many toxins such as from alcohol, fructose and various medications. Cirrhosis, an irreversible disease in which scar tissue is found in the liver, is found at a significantly reduced level in individuals who consume an average of four cups of coffee a day.
