Traditional school vs Online school Gabriel T. Ramos 12/6/17 English3A Argument Essay Students may have theopportunities to attend an online school and they can make a choice between onlineschools and traditional schools. There are some similarities between an online schooland studying in a traditional school, however there are also many differences. Most traditional learning classrooms aredesigned where the teacher is giving direct instruction and students arelistening and taking notes.
Traditional school is a better education and better prepares a studentfor their future by having face-to-face contact with the studentand teacher and enables socialization with students.Inaddition, Students find it easier to have a face to face lesson with theteacher. Traditionalschools offer students ways to interact with teachers and peers in a way thatonline formats do not. While many online courses integrate some form ofphysical interaction in hybrid courses, courses that are entirely online do nothave a face to face component. “While you may see your professor on video, youcan’t raise your hand and get immediate feedback or lean over to your classmateand ask a question. With face to face interaction you develop lifelong contacts, memories and experiences that are harder to foster in an online environment.
These types of interactions humanize the educational experience in a way thatonline learning does not”(Alleyne, 2013). Traditional school prepares children for thereal world by having by them interact with diverse people. Traditional schools usually have a diverse populationof students coming from a vast number of cultural backgrounds.
At a traditionalschool students are presented with the task of learning how to interact, getalong with and solve problems with peers who are different from themselves. Thesame opportunities may not be available to students who are at an onlineschool. Attending a traditional school prepares students for life in a diversesociety (Lawrence, July 5, 2013).”Online school isbetter because you can work at your own pace and studentscan focus and avoid distractions from other students. For example, Students can access their course at anytime, from anywhere they can log on, in most cases. This means that parents, working students, and professionals on the move have the option of attendingclasses no matter their work schedule. Students only need a computer andInternet access to take online classes.
One of the benefits ofonline education is that students may not have to sit for long periods of time.Lessons can be paused when needed, and notes read at will. (Mark Aspillera) “WhatAre the Potential Benefits of Online Learning” Inaddition, it is true that studying online requires moreself-motivation and time-management skills, because you willspend a lot of time on your own without someone physically close to keep youfocused on deadlines. Your online course will not only teach you geology orpoetry, it will also help you become more self-motivated, a trait that willmake you stand out in the workplace and beyond. It will look great on yourrésumé. (TaniaHeap, 2017) “Benefits of Studying Online”Inconclusion, these are some of the similarities and difference between onlineschool and traditional school, they both have a similar routine, and a similarchance to learn and the textbook are also similar.
On the other hand, they aredifferent because homeschool is individual, there are less chances to meet newfriends and the learning is faster.
